A tribute to Dr. Iain Douglas-Hamilton
Iain and Oria Douglas Hamilton have been an inspiration to the ACK family since we arrived 25 years ago. Iain combined his passion with

science to create a force that shook the elephant world. He had both strength and humor that ensured everyone who wanted to be a part of conservation felt welcome. When we shared our goal of a range-wide cheetah survey, the Save the Elephant team gave us their full support for the surveys in Northern Kenya. We will never forget, and we will continue to collaborate and support the STE team as they navigate their loss. Rest in Peace.
Following Dr. Douglas-Hamilton, the conservation movement in Kenya lost another champion in Daniel Ole Sambu. The world has lost a quiet but powerful force in carnivore conservation. Daniel Ole Sambu has been a huge supporter and contributor to predator conservation. He hosted ACK staff on several occasions, shared cheetah data, and helped

make connections in the community he loved. Ole Sambu was the driving force in conflict mitigation for BIG LIFE, and his passing will leave a hole in the lives of many. With each loss in the conservation world, we hope that the foundation they lay will guide a new and strong generation to follow in their footsteps and proudly grow their work. Our hearts go out to the BIG LIFE team and to Daniel's family and friends.
