Our
Programs

The Scat Dogs, COOL Crafts, and Ginger’s Hope programs are essential to Action for Cheetahs in Kenya’s holistic conservation strategy. Scat Dogs support non-invasive research through cheetah scat detection; COOL Crafts empowers local women through sustainable income tied to conservation; and Ginger’s Hope promotes the One Health approach by improving domestic dog health and reducing conflict between communities and wildlife. Together, these programs strengthen community engagement, conservation science, and coexistence.

Action for Cheetahs in Kenya uses specially trained scat detection dogs to locate cheetah scat in the wild, providing vital genetic and health data without disturbing the animals. This non-invasive method enhances understanding of cheetah distribution, behavior, and threats—key to effective conservation planning.

Action for Cheetahs in Kenya launched Ginger's Hope, a One Health initiative named after our director’s dog, to address challenges faced by communities and domestic dogs in the Samburu landscape. The program promotes healthier dogs, reduces human-carnivore conflict, and limits disease transmission to wildlife—supporting a balanced coexistence among people, livestock, wildlife, and the environment.
